Connor turns 5

Ok so I'm a little late in posting these, but I figure better late than never.
I can not believe that he is 5 already. It seriously feels like just yesterday that he was born.
I had a hard time figuring out what to get him, so I asked Holly and she said he would probably like a soccer shirt. Being the big soccer fans that we are, that was definetely something I could do.
I suggested that my mom buy him a ball to go with his uniform and he was thrilled!
The classic soccer pose
Matt caught him in the action of running down the field
We went outside to play for awhile and were on the same team. I swear he spent more time rolling around on the ground than actually playing. But then again I've seen some players in the MLS who do the same thing.
High 5 for scoring a goal!
I seriously feel so blessed that I still get to see Connor and cherish every moment I get to spend with him

Our new little additions

About 2 weeks ago, an idea came to me to get a dog. Less than 48 hours we brought home 2 tiny toy poodles, Buster & Chloe. They have been an absolute delight and have us wrapped around their little paws. Chloe weighed in at 1 lb 10 oz at 8 weeks old

Buster was a little bit bigger at 1 lb 13 oz. We are estimating that they will be about 5 lbs when they are fully grown.

Exploring the backyard

Wishing Papa Motorcycle a Happy Birthday on their 2 month mark

Buster and Sophie are the best of friends. That is until she got too tired last night and said she never wanted to see our puppies again. We'll see how long that lasts. I'm guessing not much longer than a good nights sleep.

More projects for Stupid Saturday

Mini scrapbooks made with envelopes with pages that pull out
We used this one to hold a couple recipes, I thought it would make a great present at a bridal shower with some of the ingredients for the recipes.

I turned this one into a coupon book for Matt, well I didn't actually give it to him yet, and the jury is still out on whether he will get it or not.

These are a few of my favorite things.....

Soccer with Connor and family... Oh and Matt too......he's the one taking the picture :)

Besides the fact that the game was terrible, it was a very enjoyable evening!! But then again how can any night that starts with cheese fries from the Training Table be bad!

Super Saturday

Ok so I'm the Enrichment Leader in our ward, which causes me a lot of stress and anxiety, but I guess it's good for my character. Anyways we are having a Super Saturday activity in Sept and although it's still a ways away, I had to get my samples done to start displaying them. I finished them last night and thought I would share.
Fun and educational flip books to keep kids quiet at church (well at least attempt to keep them quiet)

Tote bags in 3 different sizes.
View of the inside (sort of) showing the pockets.
There are other projects we are doing, but this is what I have pictures of so far. I'm happy with the way they turned out and think they will be a big hit at the activity.

I'll admit that we've got a pretty full house with part of my family here, but there was room for David to sleep in a bed with his mom, but instead he insisted on sleeping on the floor in the hall.

"Real" Computer Room

When I asked Matt what color he wanted to paint our computer room, he suggested we use Real Salt Lake colors. We were talking to his mom (major background in interior design) and she said ewww that's tacky. Right then and there Matt decided that we were for sure doing Real colors.
We decided to use their home jersey as inspiration for our room.

We still have more work to do, but here are some pictures of the work in progress.

It took 3 coats of the red and lots of patience

Then the blue only needed 2 coats, thank goodness.

We bought some 3/4 inch strips of moulding that we painted yellow and will be putting three yellow strips through the middle of the blue stripe. So far I think it's coming together pretty good. The colors are definetely bold, but I think it's fun and Matt loves it!

She's all mine!!

I did it, I finally paid off my car! I paid off my credit card debt about a month ago and now the car is done, I'm out of debt and it couldn't feel any better. It's been a long fought battle, but I won!! It's party time baby!!

It's happening, I'm getting old.....

The other day I was listening to the radio and they were talking about one of the Jazz players, Matt Harpring, and saying how he's getting old. Then they said he'll be turning 33! Excuse me! That's old?!?!? That's way too close to my age (28 & 11 months) to be calling someone old!!

Then today when I was driving back from lunch I noticed a fully grown in white hair! Please say it isn't so, I'm not ready to be old! I think I'll take on my Grandma Wagner's philosophy even though I might grow old, I'll never grow up.

One more weekend project

I always seem to use Conference weekend as a time to finish up projects while I listen to conference. I've had this monkey quilt all but finished for a long time.
I finally got the binding sewed down and it's now completely finished.
Now I just need to have a baby so that I can use it :)

Connor has a new little sister, Hannah. I decided that I needed to make her a quilt to welcome her to the family. I got the top finished this weekend and now just need to get the backing and do the quilting (my least favorite part). My goal is to give it to her by the end of May, so I'll have to try to keep myself on track.

I love to organize

Matt was complaining that our cupboards were bare so I finally went to the grocery store and did some shopping. I happened upon a caselot sale and stocked up. The only problem.....where to put it all!! I ended up pulling everything out and adding the secondary shelves and the "cansolidator". I love the new organized look, I wish I would have thought to take a before shot.
The "cansolidator" is by far my favorite part and I would love to get more for my food storage in the basement. That's my next organizing project......

Shhhh, don't tell Aubrielle......

My niece, Aubrielle, has been bugging me to finish this quilt for awhile. She called me up one day and said "I'm just calling to see if you've been working on my quilt a lot." I guess I can't blame her since she helped me pick out some of the fabric back in Sept :) Well it's finally done and will be going in the mail today, but I haven't told her it's done so she'll be quite surprised when it comes in the mail.
There are 2 squares of each picture so it's also a matching game.

What's wrong with these pictures?

If you answered that all the cabinet doors are missing, you are correct. What I thought was going to be a very simple project of replacing the hinges that had been completely painted over has taken on a life of it's own. As I was taking off the doors I started noticing how dirty they were. At first I thought I would just clean them up and call it good. But then when I went to install one of the new hinges on the cupboard, I realized that the hinges weren't exactly the same size and the paint was built up so much around the old ones that I'm going to have to sand that down and at least paint there. So I guess I might as well paint the doors......

Should we take bets on how long I'm without cabinet doors??

Making progress...

Last weekend, we installed the vanity, mirror, toilet and all the baseboards

We also installed the new cabinets in the laundry room and had our new washer and dryer delivered. I absolutely LOVE the new washer and dryer and Matt is fascinated with the spin cycle on the washer and how fast the clothes get dry in the dryer.

On to the next project

The toilet in our laundry room bath was not working, so a couple of Saturdays ago, I talked Matt into ripping out the bathroom and replacing it all at the same time.
Bathroom before (above) and bathroom in progress (below)
And since we were at it, we decided to do the laundry room at the same time
Before and in progress This past week my brother, Brad , helped us lay this travertine floor and I am way happy with the way it turned out. We just need to grout and seal it and that portion will be done. Then on to the painting, installing baseboards, hanging doors, installing the toilet, etc, etc....
